I dont know about Dwarves. They are far to widly used, and GW likes to stick to its own origionality and Dwarves are already used by WoW. We also cant forget Undead, Imps, Ettins, Skales?, Who all are also already in the game if we involve Dwarves. I think Tengu, Centaurs, Skales (which I think would add an interesting mix to the game), and maybe undead, along with the current races. Maybe add more in upcoming games afterward. The possibilities are endless.
Whoa, hold on. You think Dwarves would be bad because they use them in WoW, but you think Undead would be a good idea?

Well, if you look up the definition of surrow at dictionary.com, it defines it as 'The thar.'... which is pretty redengine retarded.

So you look up thar in the dictionary and it tells you it's some kind of goat. Still retarded.

You go to google and type in define:SURROW in a search engine, and you get 'A big, odd, awkward-looking antelope in the Himalaya, something in appearance between a jackass and a Tahir'. Still not much help.

We know what a jackass is (one day I'll get around to posting a picture of myself in See Who Ya Play), so what is a Tahir? Well, that takes you to a bunch of Arabic websites that I ain't clicking on with a Bush in office. From Wikipedia I get, 'In Islamic context, Tahir refers to purity and cleanliness in accordance with religious rituals. It is also a name in several Islamic cultures.'

We can probably throw that one out. My guess is Surrow is a Guild Wars original. You could speculate it's a faun or satyr, as goat comes up twice, but I doubt that.

Then again, it takes alot of fruits to make a salad. Someone in the GW salad bowl might know what a surrow is.

Sorry to burst your bubble, one that could have spiraled out of control into some kind of mix between the blob and those round bubble things that chase people around on "The Prisoner," but this "Surrow" Business is nothing more than a series of coincidences gone wrong.

First of all, it is a typo. Here's the wording of the sentence: "...whether they want to be a Norn, a Surrow, or Human warrior..." Ever played mad gab?

A Surrow
As ur row
As ur raw
Asura.

The whole deal with the roundabout dictionary definitions leading to a perfectly plausible set of mythology that a G-Dub style race could easily be modeled after was a unique and irritating coincidence.

On that note, the race does sound intriguing and I for one would love to see a race (enemy, playable, or otherwise) spring out of this unfortunate close call that could have been wildly inflated and ridiculous if not caught so soon.

Also, I always figured that the inclusion of a Tengu as the first non-human henchmen was an indication of A-Net's interest in the developing of the species.

I agree, tengu as a playable race in GW2 would have been much better than putting as a choice some ridiculous races like the shapeshifters Norn of, even worse, those small little Yoda-like things whose race name I even forgot.

However, as I have previously stated, my main concern as for now is if I'll be able to play a FEMALE charr.

Thats a good point.

I think that the Dwarves might be a playable race too seeing as they are a pretty important race in the events of Prophecies.

Dude, we should be able to play as...

SKALES

Seriously, I think the reason they chose Charr over the Tengu is because the Charr is a recurring theme. The Endgame Tyrian quests (I don't know what you'd call them collectively, "Defend bla bla bla") have to do with the Charr, and there's that Nightfall quest involving the Charr as well. It was the enigma to the whole story.

Hehe, my 5 year old daughter likes him, she says he's creepy. And for some weird reason she likes creepy. Im guessing its genetic.

Back on topic. Races I would like to see: Tengu, Centaurs, Naga (or some other snake being), Hecket, and Undead.

I don't know if I really want to play as an enemy I fought in mass numbers in the previous chapters UNLESS Anet adds some more lore/backstory as to why I should play them. Ok, I'll give them the Charr. But I honestly cannot see playing a Forgotten or Margonite at all. I mean, aren't they the embodiment of evil? I feel the same about playing as any other monster race we fought before like the Naga, Hecket, undead, Dwarves, etc. I really hope that, besides Human and Charr, all the other races will be new and unique. I don't want to feel like I am still playing GW1 when I am playing GW2.

Default Ah!

Ah, the Dredge? However did I forget about these? Yes, the Dredge would be an excellent races.

Skales? I doubt we will see them due to the lack of NPC Skales. Take all highly-possible other races. Those races, there are NPC's we can talk to. Skales? There are none of to my knowledge.

Playing a undead? The Undead aren't a race, they are a type of being. They where a Centaur, but now they are a Undead Centaur. They aren't "alive", they can not breed and do not have running blood. Fun as they would be, they won't be playable.

Highly Possible Races:
The Dwarves
The Centaurs
The Tengu
The Dredge

Edit: Also - Dwarves are highly used as I stated, and your right, WoW does use them. But, like I had stated, Dwarves aren't the commonly thought of Dwarves in the world of Tyria. Most Dwarves that are in games, books, etc. are just "We Mine, We Grow Beards, We Grunt.". While in Tyria, we see Dwarves casting Energy Surge, and holding off a group of eight humans for thirty minutes on top of his mount! (Yes, I'm talking about the Yakslapper him self.)

Dwarves are likely to be played considering that they where in the first, and they are going to be in the last game of Guildwars before we begin Guildwars 2.

Let's see:

1. Dwarves - too common, plus they will be allies in GW:EN
2. Wardens - tied to Echovald
3. Mursaat - ugh
4. Forgotten - civilization dying now
4. Tengu - very possible
5. Centaur - very possible
6. Dredge - probably not, but I would like at least to see their slavery ended and communities arisen
7. Undead - ugh
8. insects, lizards, plants - didn't see any intelligent ones
9. Naga - they have villages now, maybe in couple of hundred years, who knows where they will be

That's the reason why I think the Dwarves are the highest possibilities. Just because they are our allies, doesn't mean we won't play them. To me, it indicates we stand a greater chance of playing them now.

I think Tengu should be playable. I also think (as cliche'd as it is) we should be able to play Dwarves. They play an important role in the GW lore...

I wana be a siege wurm!

Actually, the Forgotten were good. Us humans drove them off to the Crystal Desert. Humans are the embodiment of evil.

About the Dwarves... you probably wouldn't be playing as Stone Summit but rather Deldrimor.

You wouldn't be playing neither.

If ANET does what I hope they do, you will have much the same character creation screen where you have the dark skin, the light skin. Different faces, different hair, etc.

If your going to involve races, each race needs to look different from each person inside of that race. Not all humans look the same, Dwarves, Tengu and Charr shouldn't either.

The Forgotten would be a great race to play. Since Abbadon is dealt with they can easily come out of hiding and join the world around them. There are all kinds of areas around the desert not explored so they could be in any one of those areas and rebuild their civilization.

The Dwarf's are an important part of GW lore so I could see them available to players.

I’d like to see Tengu Dwarf Forgotten and Centaur all be choices in addition to Human Norn Charr Sylvani and Asura.

As for undead ... undead to me are the real monsters so I just can't seem em as characters.

Ah, but you're assuming the Stone Summit look distinct from Deldrimor.

Yes their armor is different but they are just different factions.

What I was suggesting is you would not be representing the Stone Summit faction. Deldrimor is the mainstream dwarven faction, and not evil so it makes more sense to represent them instead of xenophobic slave drivers.

A Naga or Lizardman like race would be cool.

As far as no Insectoid race, because we're never see them before - well, we've never seen Asura, Sylvari or Norn, either.

I'm thinking of a race like the Thri-Keen in D&D (playable in Dark Sun).
